About us

Every day, the Trust supervises over 3,200 adult offenders. It has 260 skilled, professional staff. Their caseload is made up of men and women over eighteen, of these about 70% are serving community orders and 30% are on licence or in prison.

Working closely with organisations in the criminal justice system including the Prison Service, Police, Crown Prosecution Service, the Courts, Witness Support Services and local solicitors we aim to succeed in four key areas:

  • To punish offenders by achieving the required level of contact with each offender, making appropriate demands on them in terms of their time and lifestyle and ensuring that any enforcement action is timely.
  • Supporting offenders by making sure they have accommodation, jobs and that any addiction they may have is reduced.
  • Change for the better we aim to see measurable change in their behaviour
  • Control – this is a key priority – protecting the public by minimising the risk of harm that offenders pose to others.

Good offender management involves priority attention for those offenders who pose a high risk of harm to others and that every offender’s case file has a clear and up to date assessment and that all reasonable action has been taken to keep to a minimum the risk of harm to others. The key point is that all ‘reasonable’ steps have been taken, for no system is perfect and as an organisation that deals with volatile offenders we cannot eliminate risk entirely.
